Extra Curricular Team Activities

The Potomac Marlins frequently establish team activities dates throughout the year for the purposes of team building (getting to know the swimmers from the other pools), opportunities to build new friendships, relaxing (not thinking about swimming), and just having fun. Examples of team activities from last year include: roller-skating party, movie nights, Christmas party, bowling night, and the Old Rag hike, laser tag, tube trip, basket ball tournament, Kings Dominion trip, Go Cart race track, and the Virginia Waterway Environmental clean-up Day, etc. The dates for these activities will be determined by the head coaches, and indicated on the monthly calendars attached to the newsletter. Suggestions for team activities will be taken by any of the coaching staff.

Parent Volunteers will be asked to help to set up, organize, and chaperone each of the team activities planned. Volunteers must sign up to help with each of the activities by calling the Team Manager. The intent is that all parents help with at least one of the scheduled activities so that one or two parents do not get stuck with planning everything. Activities which generate no interest or insufficient interest from volunteers will not be held. This decision will be made by consent of the Head Coaches. Coach participation in team activities will be at the discretion of each coach.
