Nadine began swimming at the age of 10 after realizing that she was more graceful in the water than on land. Growing up in a suburb of Toronto, Canada she swam for the Oakville Aquatic Club until moving to Minneapolis, MN as a freshman in high school. Nadine swam for Orono High School in Long Lake, MN where she specialized in the 100 fly, 100 backstroke and the 50 fly in the 200 IM relay. She was captain of the team her senior year of high school. Plagued with injuries, she was unable to continue on to college swimming, but continued her involvement in her high school team by coaching . Nadine was the assistant coach at Orono High School for 2 years, winning 2 conference championship titles and sending over 10 swimmers to the State Meet. When she wasn't coaching high school she was coaching the Metro Marlins, a USA Swim Team located in her hometown of Orono, MN. The highlight of her swimming career was swimming at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Section meets. Her coaching highlight is coaching her younger sister to the state meet in the 500 Freestyle. Nadine moved to Alexandria, VA in January of 2008 to further her career and to experience all that the Washington, DC metro has to offer. She immediately began to miss coaching. Nadine believes that swimming contains so many lessons that apply to life outside of the water. It is her goal to show swimmers that it isn't just about winning, but within this sport we learn discipline, grace, poise, dedication and determination, all of which are things we take with us throughout our lives. |
