The Reindeer Mini Meet is historically the largest and most popular Mini meet on the PVS schedule. I am sure this has nothing to do with the fact that Santa always makes a drop in visit during the meet to wish everyone good luck before making his way back to the North Pole to make final preparations for his big night? Despite the seasonal celebrity visit and the proximity to "the big day", Marlins swimmers remained focused on their competitive performances and once again the Reindeer Mini meet was a huge success.

Cub Run swimmer, Mary Kominski's meet performance nearly outshined Rudolph's nose with four new 8 & under team records. Mary led the Marlins team with 1st place finishes in the, 25 Fly and 25 Breast , second place finishes in the 100 Free, 100 IM and 50 Breast, and a third place in the 50 Fly. Along the way Mary established 4 new Marlins Team Records by substantial margins. 100 Free (by .44) , 25 Breast (by 1.20), 50 Breast (by 2.65) , 25 Fly (by .70). Congratulations MARY! Great job.

Grace Fluharty also had a great meet with two personal best times (50 Fly and 50 Free) and two second place finishes in the 9 year old 100 IM & 50 Fly. Way to go Grace!

Team topping time drop performance kudos go to Kyle Diederich with 5 personal best swims for the weekend. Kyle's very consistent total time drop was 15.96 seconds with a very impressive 10+ second drop in the 100 Free. Awesome meet Kyle!

In addition to Mary, GMU swimmer, Dylan Major, had 4 best times which continued his streak of great meets so far this season. Dylan's best swim came in 100 I.M. with almost a 5 second drop. Way to go Dylan!

Three other swimmers had awesome overall meet performances with 3 best times each. Sydney Baxter's cumulative time drop of 19.93 seconds was the top cumulative drop of the meet. Sydney had 3 spectactular swims each with significant time drop. Her most impressive race was in the 50 Breast where she dropped over 11 seconds. WOW! Gavin Flanagan also had three best times and his 100 Freestyle drop of 15.01 seconds was the largest single event drop of the meet. CONGRATS Gavin! Da Lee had three best times totaling 8.66 seconds. Most impressive when considering these were all 25 yard events. Great meet Da!

There were many other great individual event performances at the Reindeer Mini meet. Of note were the second and third largest time drops of the meet turned in by Wesley Branch in the 50 Free (14.41 seconds drop) and Joshua Liu in the 25 Breast (13.22 seconds drop). Great swims guys!

All in all, the Marlins 8 & under squad has had an outstanding fall season. We plan to continue working hard into the New Year and setting a bunch of NEW GOALS for 2011. Enjoy the much needed Winter Break and get excited about jumping back into the "swim of things" in January. Congrats to all Reindeer Mini Meet swimmers!
