Team Manager's notes: 9-23-11
Attention Marlins parents and swimmers:
UPCOMING deadlines and due dates:
- September 24th - (tomorrow) Raft trip registration deadline.
- September 27th - October Open meet entries due - web links now working check with deck coaches on specific meet entry procedures.
- September 30th - Team Fee balances due ( and/or first installment of extended payment plan) Checks preferred, but you can choose to pay by credit card through the YOUR ACCOUNT button on the registration HUN page (or by PayPal if you prefer).
- October 1st. Shenandoah team Raft Trip. (take photos and send us some for the web site!)
- October 4th - PENN STATE Meet entries due & Halloween Mini Meet entries due.
- October 5th Penn State Travel meet Hotel Release date. Group block rates not available after this date. Meet is open to all 9 & older swimmers regardless of whether or not individual deck coach is attending. Meet will be fully staffed pending registration numbers.
OTHER REMINDERS
- October Open Volunteer sign-up link is now active at the top of the Meet Entry HUB page. This is a Marlins team hosted meet for PVS and we will need many volunteers for each session. Volunteer sign-up links will be activated for each Marlins hosted or sponsored meet.
- Coach e-mails - Make sure you are getting e-mails from the Marlins Team Manager's address, potomacmarlins@comcast.net, and from your primary deck coaches e-mail addresses. If not, please check the accuracy of your e-mail under YOUR ACCOUNT information. Also be sure that your anti SPAM settings are set to ALLOW/RECOGNIZE specific Marlins coaching staff e-mail addresses.
- General Team e-mail notes will also be posted to and chronicled on the ANNOUNCMENTS page of the web site.
- Be sure to periodically check the web site CALENDAR and ANNOUNCMENT pages for scheduling updates and modifications to practices, meets, events, due dates, etc....
- Outfitting batch #2 (swimmers registering between August 21 and September 18) is currently being processed at Sport Fair and is scheduled to be delivered the first week of October ( or prior if possible). Further info TBA. Outfitting questions should be referred directly to Marlins Outfitting Manager, Steve Ercolano @ coachsteve@cox.net
- LABEL all team equipment and outfitting with SWIMMER NAME! Please! Instruct all swimmers to bring backpacks to practice and put ALL personal items in the backpacks ( meets too!). It is safest to bring backpacks out on deck and put in designated areas on pool deck. Keeping all items in backpacks at all times will greatly aid in the prevention of getting team items and personal equipment LOST. Make sure Backpacks are clearly labeled ( use GMU bldg pass /bag tag). It is also recommended that backpacks are adorned with some sort of unique/personalization to aid in easy I.D. (ex. attaching "something" to hang from the outside?). REMEMBER, Only Marlins equipment and outfitting on deck at meets and practices. See OUTFITTING policy section of web site for more details
- NOTE: USA swimming requires all registered swimmers to have some form of plastic water bottle on deck during practice filled with sports drink or water. Please make sure to have yours by the end of September. ( Not necessary for Mini Marlins and Stroke School). Sport fair has some nice team bottles with logo, but ANY plastic bottle will suffice.
- PARENT T-shirts. If there is an interest in getting a "run" of 2011-12 Team t-shirts for PARENTS, please let me know by the end of September. If enough interest, we will produce and order form and get another batch printed. Cost per shirt will be approx. $15 each.
