The Potomac Marlins began in 1993 as two brothers teaching stroke technique in order to enhance local competitive swimmers' normal workouts with other clubs. In the years since, the Potomac Marlins have grown to be one of the largest teams in USA Swimming, averaging around 500 athletes per season. The Marlins have sent swimmers to the highest level meets in USA Swimming, including Olympic Trials, US Open, USA Senior Nationals and Junior Nationals.
While the Marlins have grown over the 20+ year history of the club, the team still holds on to the "small club" feel. Our coaches get to know the swimmers from every group at meets and the swimmers get to know all of the coaches. Our travel trips encourage team bonding that shows in our team spirit at championship meets.
