GET "GEARED UP" FOR SUCCESS!

The Marlins Stroke Workshop was developed in the Fall of 1993 to provide high level individualized instruction to competitive swimmers in a non-competitive atmosphere. Teaching complex motor skills, improving the swimmers understanding of the sport, and developing a sense of accomplishment are the workshops primary goals.
Since it's inception, the Stroke Workshops have helped many swimmers ranging in age, ability, and experience. Understanding these differences and the ability to work with these swimmers on an individual level towards accomplishing their dreams has made the Marlins Stroke Workshops very successful and unique in the Northern Virginia competitive swimming community.
DREAM, DEVELOP, DELIVER!

The Marlins Stroke Workshop consists of four 2-hour classes. Each of the four classes focuses on one of the four competitive strokes (Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly).
- 30 minute lecture/discussion on stroke mechanics and CURRENT rules of competition.
- Unique Stroke Drill progressions and in-water body awareness activities.
- In-water/On-deck demonstration and correction by coaches.
- Start and Turn drills for each of the four strokes.

The Workshops are not a crash course on competitive swimming where the inexperienced and unmotivated train to become Olympic champions. Our goal is to offer the necessary tools for competitive swimming success to those who choose to use them. Swimming is a tough sport both physically and mentally, where knowledge of self and of the sport are crucial for success. The Marlins Stroke Workshop helps prepare swimmers for their journey.
Stroke Workshops are a highly recommended step between the Developmental Program and U.S.S team participation in addition to an excellent weekly supplement to a standard 2-3 X per week swimming program.
