| May 1st, 2025: REGISTRATION FOR THE 25-26 SEASON WILL OPEN TO CURRENT COMPETITIVE TRACK SWIMMERS. June 15th, 2025: REGISTRATION WILL OPEN TO NEW & RETURNING CONDITIONING TRACK SWIMMERS June 20th, 2025: EARLYBIRD Team Fee Discount Deadline July 1st, 2025: REGISTRATION WILL OPEN TO HIGH SCHOOL CONDITIONING SWIMMERS. . We accept new swimmers all season long on a pro-rated basis. Placement evaluations are required (physically or verbally) for all NEW team members for the purpose of accurately accessing their current ability level. These evaluations must be conducted by one of the Potomac Marlins Coaches. Placement evaluations take approx. 10-15 minutes and are based upon the Base Ability Requirements llsted for each program on the Practice Schedule pages. 2025-26 Season PLACEMENT EVALATION Drop -in schedule New Team Members are strongly encouraged to attend a placement evaluation prior to registering to assure proper placement in the program and avoid necessary changes in the fall after practices have started. Suit and goggles are required. Tryout take approx. 10-20 min depending upon how many swimmers are present. Parents will be asked to provide:
Evaluating coach will let parent know approved practice group level. If approved swimmer may register immediately provided there is space inthe program and day of choice. Check the practice schedule page prior to registering for this information. Program spaces will be shown as FULL if there are no more spaces availble on those days/times. The BASE ELIGIBILITY requirements for each program are listed on the Practice Schedule pages for each pool along with TEST SETS for each level. The Test sets have conditioning and technique components which are used as a basis for the Evaluation tryout. The evaluating coach will determine the highest appropriate level for each new swimmer based pon their current abilities as assessed during the tryout. This infomation will be provided to the parent at which point the swimmer may register thru the web site registration form. Evaluations may not be necessary if the swimmer/parent is able to get confirmation / approval from a Marlins coach via email or phone after providing swimmer information: Current swim schedule, current best times. Summer League coaches can also do assessments based upn the Base Eligibility requirements. Provide a copy of these requirments to your summer coach. They should then email the primary coach for your pool with their written assessment. Swimmers may attend any of the scheduled tryout locations. Please note, evaluation approvals given without in water tryouts are subject to changes by the coaching staff after these season has started during the month of September based upon swimmers ability level in practices. We have a few more DROP IN opportinities to received an in person tryout/evaluation. All other tryouts will be done before/during or after reguarly scheduled practices. PLACEMENT EVALUATIONS CAN BE DONE VIA E-MAIL CONVERSATION WITH PRIMARY DECK COACHES IF UNABLE TO ATTEND ONE OF THE IN-PERSON EVALUATION OPTIONS. Information required: Swimmers age, expereience (# of seasons on swim team, swim meet times, current practice schedule = # of days per week and length of practice). Coaches may require an in water tryout if unable to accurately assess ability levels from info provided. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Competitive Track: (Swimmers committed to swimming as their primary sport with expectations of higher level swimming in High School and College. Follows USAS min. recommended developmental progression for Senior level swimming expectations and success): Registration will open to NEW COMPETITIVE TRACK members on June 1st 2023. Conditioning Track: (Swimmers who are not currently fully committed to swimming as their primary sport, but wish to remain in shape/condition for summer league and high school swimming. Conditioning Track swimmers are able to compete in USAS meets if desired). Mighty Marlins > Silver Conditioning 60 > Silver Conditioning 90 - High School Conditioning CONDITIONING TRACK programs will open to ALL swimmers on June 15th. NOTE: Some Conditioning Track programs share practice time and space and are fully integrated with Competitive Track equivalents, however, the team prioritizes the Competitive Track swimmers by allowing a brief one-week period for Competive Track swimmers to register before opening to the Conditioning Track swimmers. Returning Conditiong Track swimmers are encouraged to register as close to June 7th as possible to secure their positions on the team.
